I am writing this review one year after the completion of our significant renovation project. As a non-European expat, we (me and my wife) had considerable concerns about initiating the renovation due to the horror stories we had heard. Our location in the city center (Singel) introduced additional complexities involving transportation, permits, parking, and more. Despite receiving a pricier quote from Novo compared to other options, we ultimately selected them based on strong word of mouth and a recommendation from my boss. Looking back, we are happy with our decision. Novo was transparent throughout the process. Communication wasn't a barrier as the project managers spoke English (some workers can but not most). The work crew consistently arrived punctually, and the estimated timeline of 3 months was adhered to, despite a final push towards the end. This was essential as our temporary rental contract was coming to a close, and we were keen to avoid additional costs on B&Bs or hotels. Staying engaged and making regular site visits was emphasized by Alexander, and we did. While it's possible to delegate this if you opt for a hired rep. for a price, we chose to be hands-on and save money. The initial price estimate remained relatively accurate, barring some additional expenses we willingly incurred by adding to the scope of work during the project. Also, I can see they are true to their ownership of work and long term relationship with clients as a minor issue arose – one that workers and PM had foreseen during the installation of the shower door, so it didn't come as a surprise. A quick message on WhatsApp to our PM and another reminder a week later resulted in two workers arriving at our place who resolved the problem within hours, at no extra cost. This further solidified our positive experience. Securing certain specialists, such as a carpenter in our case, might require flexibility with scheduling. Patience was key, and while it took some time, the carpenter was ultimately arranged for critical tasks like doors and flooring; for furniture-related work, there was a slightly longer wait. We fully recommend Novo. It's worth mentioning that they primarily handle substantial projects, as a few of my friends discovered when attempting to hire them for smaller tasks. Our upstairs neighbor, who has undertaken three major renovations in Amsterdam over 15 years, was impressed with Novo's work quality and timely completion.
