Due to continued pressure through a series of incoherent emails, a debt collection agency and lack of what I consider normal communication, I have decided to remove my extensive review and keep it short: my experience with this company is very negative, especially because of the way the back office deals with customers. Based on my experience, I advise others to remain critical before doing business with this company.

Installation that did not comply with the rules and subsequently a lot of bureaucracy. The cover of my central heating drain was broken. They indicated that this could no longer be ordered and so a completely new one had to be made, which would cost between 3 and 400 euros. In the end the costs were almost 500, but within the bandwidth, so to speak. A few weeks later my central heating maintenance came and this man told me that the new pipe should have been braced and that he could not officially approve this. I called Van de Poel, they apologized and someone came to install a bracket for 2 euros in 2 minutes. I was very surprised when I subsequently received a bill for 80 euros for this bracket. They indicated that the pipe in question had not been constructed by them. The tube was actually black and now I have a white one. I'm not the most observant person, but a visually impaired mole would still see that the tube had been replaced. Then several emails back and forth in which old invoices were suddenly resent for approximately the same amount (perhaps in the hope that I would accidentally pay them or something?). Really, I didn't know you could have so much bureaucracy at a handyman company, stay far away! UPDATE 11/11/2024 This is too bizarre for words, but even though I have indicated several times that I will not pay for the repair of incorrectly completed work, they continue to email me. Each time with increasing self-invented collection costs. I have now received a reminder more than 6 times, always including a separate email in which they write down some threatening language about collection costs. They should spend a little more time on completing their jobs properly instead of spending so much time on this. No doubt a new update in 6 months!

The gutter leaked in 2 places, so I asked VD Poel to come. After the first rain shower it turned out that 1 of the leaks had not been repaired. I had VD Poel come again and they repaired the leak. However, 3 weeks later I received 2 invoices. 1 for the original repair and the 2nd for the 2nd visit. I think they did not carry out the repair properly (because they did not test it with e.g. a bucket of water) but after communication they indicate that they do not give a guarantee on repairs and blame it on the poor condition of the gutter. I am very angry about how this is being handled, because I was always satisfied with previous repairs in the past, but this is a disappointment.

We have now used the services of Jan van der Poel for the second time to full satisfaction. The first time, various drain pipes had to be installed in my studio, which was carried out properly after a suitable quotation. Very recently there was a broken drain (somewhere else) and after calling, Jan was personally at the door and quickly and professionally resolved the problem. Definitely recommended for a skilled and reliable plumber. Thanks.
