Insulating your roof with isovlas: think carefully! Isovlas will be a nice insulation material, but there are some catches. It is a strong smelling product, the smell is absorbed into the entire house, even after 2 months. Property insulation comes with two people, the isovlas is attached to the attic with "staples" (ready within two hours). But the Isovlas sags (the sides of the mat are fixed, and the middle sags, creating air pockets) and that is not a permanent solution. In short: in my opinion, with Isovlas alone you are only halfway with your insulation, and therefore a (variable vapour barrier) foil must be applied anyway before you have pleasant insulation (and usable space again). I advise you to ask the insulating party to apply the foil as well, then you get a realistic price. I asked property insulation to provide a roll of foil, they indicated that it is cheaper to buy a roll yourself. Considering the hourly rate I paid, around 200 euros per person/per hour, this is quite a service that could have been provided at cost price. Isovlas must be covered with a breathable plastic. This limits the number of materials with which you can finish your attic. You only notice these kinds of things after a while. In retrospect, I see more ifs and buts than before. Roof insulation is apparently quite problematic, given the many warnings on the internet. A tip: Isovlas does not have an information sheet with information on how to finish your attic. It would be nice if this was clearly communicated, and that you could also read it again.
